M J Shaw was formed in January 1976 and has grown from a small family business to a major building firm with an annual turnover in excess of £5m. 

Company founder Matthew Shaw is still involved in the daily running of the firm, constantly looking for new ways to develop and take the company forward. With over 30 years experience in the Construction Industry, M J Shaw has built a solid reputation for completing projects within the specified contract period and within budget. 

Our very low turnover of staff and operatives helps to keep the excellent standards of workmanship for which we are renowned. As well as the physical expansion of the business the range of activities and the areas of operation have expanded also.  Initially the bulk of the company’s work came from Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) projects namely Response Maintenance, ECM, MEI and Revenue Replacement Schemes for which M J Shaw have become renowned due to their excellence in this field.

Although projects for private clients have always featured in our portfolio, in more recent years these projects have come to the fore.  M J Shaw has an impressive private clientele with projects ranging from new build houses and extensions to shopfitting and complete refurbishment of office suites.

All projects undertaken by M J Shaw are in-house managed by our team of Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Managers, Health and Safety Officers and Contract Administrators, thus giving a greater control over budgets, quality and safety. Expansion of this company has been carefully planned and diversification is still taking place within a company which has built a reputation for quality, efficiency and value for money.
